Jules Undersea Lodge

Jules' Undersea Lodge is an American hotel located in Key Largo, Florida. It is 30 feet deep on the ocean floor and guests have to scuba dive to get to their rooms. It's the world’s only underwater hotel. To get there, you have to scuba dive 21 feet below the ocean surface. Once inside, you’ll find all the creature comforts you’re used to on land: hot showers, a well-stocked kitchen, books, music and movies. Plus, you’ll have a fabulous view of the underwater habitat right from your bed.

Originally designed in the early 1970s by diving pioneer Ian Koblick, it was first deployed as the mobile undersea habitat "La Chalupa" in over one hundred feet of water off the coast of Puerto Rico.  It carried a full range of subsea scientific equipment as well as innovations such as mini wet-sub and breakaway decompression chamber escape capsules.

Jules' Undersea Lodge was refitted and refurbished in the early 1980s as the first true ambient pressure habitat available to the general public.  It has operated continuously in Key Largo, Floridafor over twenty-five years.  It has a perfect safety record, and thousands of satisfied guests who have experienced the wonder and delight of actually eating, sleeping, and living underwater, just as the first "Aquanauts" did in famed habitats like Conshelf, Sealab, and during the 1960s.
